I agree, it's probably going to be someone so completely out-of-the-blue everyone has a mental break. I know I will.

I never thought of moby dick or captain ahab as dr. Whale before. That sounds interesting. Although that might be too modern of a tale for it to work in fairy tale world unless they redo it completely.

Alice in wonderland is pretty modern too as is the Wizard of Oz compared to the Brothers Grimm fairytales and yet that hasn't stopped them.

True but Wonderland and Oz are basically other worlds. Moby Dick is pretty similar to our own world. i guess they could change it to a hunter hunting monstro as a reference to Moby Dick.

Cpt Ahab made me lol, I don't think they'd go as far as Oz. Wonderland was a stretch, I think the most you'd get is a mention of Oz in the Mad Hatter's hat. "No, not that door. You do not want to go in there. Munchkins. Trust me." kind of thing, at best. Maybe, he's like, Peter Pan or something. The sleazy-ness could be a vague reference to not growing up.

Well the truth is that any fictional world whether ancient or modern is fair play.
here's an scenario I imagined if they ever went to the world of Andalasia from Enchanted.

Quote:
Emma and Henry travel with the help of the mad hatter to Andalasia. They both look at each other in utter surprise "Holy smokes we are cartoons!" Emma yells
"Cool! I hope that on the next portal we travel I get to fly an X-wing" Henry says
'Not on your life!" Emma replies.

That's the fun part of this show they can truly explore any fictional world outthere...

plus they've decided to branch out of fairy tales and do folk tales like Mulan's story for example. So we could start seeing other lesser known fairy tales on the show eventually.
